I've been musing over this for awhile now, most recently in the post "Twitter killed the Radio Star". I haven't been blogging as long as you have, but still almost five years now and blogging has changed considerably in that time. Part of the issue is of course that Eve itself has passed its tenth anniversary. Realistically there is little left to uncover, and while Eve does change those changes are reflected faster and more globally in other formats.

More and more blogs will fade. This is not a dire prediction, but only one based on fact. One needs only to look at examples, such as Facebook to see how trends rise, settle and then begin to fade. Blogging is no different than these trends. Especially when one focuses on a specific niche area like Eve Blogging.

The "community", whatever that really means, is stronger than ever. But blogging isn't the cornerstone of that movement now, I'd argue that Twitter is, supported by forums, G+, news sites, and others.

For my own part I've tried to develop my own unique niche within that community from which to continue to be relevant and interesting. I've long considered my one man "magazine" to be unique and I've worked hard to develop that over the years. Hopefully it serves a purpose and maintains its readership, which is rather robust.

But even I can feel the creeping doubts about where we go next.

As always I find it all rather fascinating. Perhaps it is a certain amount of "bitter vet" mentality ( although I generally don't buy into that as an actual 'thing') most likely it is simply perspective. As someone who has provided community services in the past I can only share in your thoughts regarding the weight of custodianship.

When I decided to hand off the EBP I did so according to my own self-determined rules. Just as CK had done. I didn't ask for anyone's approval beforehand, or give a flying you know what, what anyone else thought about it. The EBP and evebloggers.com are (were) your responsibility and if you want to spin the bottle, consult a HIndu wiseman, or simply throw darts at a wall to determine the successor then so be it.

Although Cyberin is a good choice in my opinion.

The rest of it will sort itself out eventually. The Eve Community, whatever that is exactly, will go on and continue to morph, change and evolve. Always curious to see what happens next.

Finally, for myself only, thank you for watching out for them. As someone who has been in your shoes, I know how much enthusiasm you had for these services and the plans you had in store for them. I also know how hard life can smack you in the face. That is the reality we all must deal with eventually.

I find it quite ironic that your corpmate is slamming me for pretty petty smack talk that wasn't even directed at him and now you are literally smacking me in the comments for the sake of smack. I apologized and attempted to clear things up and shed light on the truth and instead you seize this moment to needlessly insult me instead of resolving the conflict.

When I landed on you in my imicus instead of burning away or warping I turned my MWD on and orbited you at 500 which led to a quick death. Sorry if you took it the wrong way.

nice work, though i guess that kind of proves the tuskers aren't being as honorable as they'd like to claim, or is there another explaination? i'd love to see what the tuskers say, after all 1v1 and then 2 jump in to try and pop you? i'd love to see what they say, but i can't find any of their blogs. they seem to have become small time with a detiorating sense of honor since rix left, though that may just be me

I have been blogging about eve exclusively since 2011, I started my IT acreer as a graphics artist and while not Rixx, I can cut a fir pic every now and again... I am passionate about the game and it's players and do not want to see these resources die out due to just age. Change is the norm I agree, but traditions have their place in human culture and society... and there is a wealth of knowledge and experiences recorded for posterity in them thar blogs...

Be a shame to lose access to em, I throw my hat in the ring sir.

I'm in two minds whether it would be of benefit to unite the Blog banters with the maintenance of the EVE Blog Pack and the EVE-Bloggers portal.

On the one hand it seems 'neat', but on the other it is very much an eggs in one basket scenario.

I believe that the Blog Banters play a simple and important role within the EVE writing community which can fit around the evolving landscape and is entirely separate from the function provided by the EBP and the portal.

I'd be concerned that lumping them all together might create a single set of administrative concrete boots for all the initiatives.

Of course, if someone has the chops to take it all on, it's worth considering, but I think most folk take these services for granted and underestimate the amount of work involved.

I've actually gotten a handful of offers already, I'll be contacting everyone who has offered (and anyone who still wishes to) over the next week and we'll figure out who makes the best fit.

Seismic Stan is also of a mind to hand off the Blog Banters role to someone. Ideally, this would be the same person who takes over Evebloggers. That will probably end up being the deciding factor.

If no one else is interested in taking it over, I would be interested in doing so. For starters, I've been thinking about starting one recently now that I'm back into EVE fulltime, am a web designer and run my own hosting company...so that part will be simple :).

As to the rest of the rules, I used to be a big part of the blogging community...(Hands Off, My Loots....Cyberin), sadly losing my job and being unemployed for 18 months hit my blogging/gaming time pretty hard. But I'm back and actually in the process of working on a new blog right now.

If no one else has stepped up yet, I'd love to talk with you, feel free to email me and we can discuss things in more depth/detail.

I am strongly of two minds.

First mind. I'd hate to see the Eve Blog Pack and evebloggers go to the dust bin of time. I don't really have a good reason why that is however. Nostalgia? A sense of failure perhaps. I really don't know. A certain amount of traffic comes from them both even today, but having run EBP for a year I know how much work it is.

Second mind. Nothing stays the same. And despite my own warnings as to the death of the eve community, "change" is the only real constant. As long as EBP and evebloggers doesn't end up being hosted on EN24 or TMC, which would be a tragic outcome, I can't see a reason to keep them.

One of the biggest reasons EBP especially worked was because of CK. He was the Chribba of blogging and a trusted respected and admired figure in the community. We are rapidly running low on those as more and more blogs bite the dust of time.

If these things survive they will have my support. But I can't help thinking that it is time to let them go.

I am not attempting to fill the same role, being less exclusive in my reading. (i.e. I have tried capping before in *that other game*, and decided it's too hard).

I am also *crap* at pretty pictures.

In terms of maintenance; while I am playing EVE, I will maintain my blogroll (and hopefully use feedly to sync my personal eve reading list with it. *one day*)

Right now, my 'blogpack' is working.

It's one of the ways Consumer Reports stays objective in their reviews of stuff. They go out and purchase the things they review and then give their opinions on it, free fro worry that an unfavorable review will deny them future access with that manufacturer.
